Belated September... Beginning Of The School Year And Glasses...

Antonio started 3rd grade this year. Giosaia started 1st grade. Luca is in pre-k. AND, Antonio had to get glasses to help his near-sightedness and double astigmatisms... :-)

Belated September... Random Every Day Shots...

Luca loves to do pop-a-wheelies with their toy riding tractor. He is holding the pose since he was going to quickly for me to catch him in action...

One of Giosaia's best friends is Sophie, who is my friend, Roxy's, daughter...

Our dog, Lupo

Belated September... Our 9th Anniversary...

We had a good and simple day. Wow, 9 years!!!

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for my husband. You provided a man who loves You, loves me and our kids, is a hard worker, and such fun. Thank you for knowing what I needed before I even knew, and for bringing us together. Thank you for working things out perfectly in Your time. Though we both have faults and have made so many mistakes, thank You for making "beauty for ashes"... Thank you for growing us in Your love, Your patience, Your faith, Your wisdom and Your care, and for providing for all of our needs in every way. May we be a testimony of Your love to those around us. Amen.

Belated September... Titi Elva and Elvita Visit...

My paternal aunt, Titi Elva, in Spanish, and my cousin Elva came and visited in September. I was excited just to see them and spend time with them, but the visit went FAR better than I EVER imagined. We had so much fun: laughing, sharing, praying, playing together. The kids had a BLAST. Although we only had about 4 days together, we had so much fun and fit in so much, that it seemed like we had been together for longer. We miss them so much!!! Here are some pictures of their time here.

You may remember me mentioning one my cousins who put out an album called "Until I Here You" a while back. It is my cousin Elva, that you see here, that I was referring to. She stopped here in Italy after doing some Missions Work in Africa. You can read about that here. Please go and learn more about her, her music, and the ministry God has provided for her to do here... Have a great day!

Another Little Nephew To Meet...

This is my newest nephew, Nathanael, and he was born in July... I cannot wait to meet him. My kids are excited that they can someday meet Little Nathanael and Zachary, who was born 2 weeks after our Dario.

They do not know it yet, but we will have that opportunity mid December as we have our tickets, and we are going back to visit for Christmas!!! My insides are squealing with delight just like a kid. So, If for some reason, I do not blog much, it is because I am not home with "all kinds of time on my hands". We are trying to spread ourselves evenly between two families and our sprinkling of must-see friends, too. We already have plans on making all kinds of wonderful memories. And my immediate family, my parents, my siblings and their families, we all plan on getting a portait taken together. We are something like 16 people. That in itself will be quite a memory. And we will NOT be using candy canes to try to get their attention!

Pray for travelling mercies and for a fun and memorable visit. By the time we get there, it will have been nearly 2 1/2 years since we have seen our families and been back to visit. It IS Time!!!

A Simple Praise Report About My Morning...

I have a praise... I promised two elderly and sickly family members that I would come and visit them MONTHS ago. For one reason or another, I was not able to go until this morning. It was driving me crazy, to not be able to keep my promise and to be forever remembered for that, and because I really did want to spend some time with them. Thank the Lord; He provided the means this morning. And it was perfect timing too. He knows, and He provides. We can never know His perfect will, but it is wonderful to see how He can use us, grow us, teach us, etc... when we are open to Him, available, and willing. Praise our Awesome God!!!

About My "Confession" Post...

Okay, so, I decided to encourage myself in my "creative recycling" in this post since this morning I had an incident that occurred that turned out just right because of my "pack-rat"ness... Hello! I know that is not a word, I had to use it, though, to make my point.

Anyhow, imagine telling your four year old to get dressed for school, only to have him approach you half an hour later only dressed in a t-shirt and underwear. The expression on his face is half matter-of-fact, a quarter distress, and a quarter full of faith that I will have the answer to his predicament. "Mamma, these underwear got too big, and you have to give them to Antonio." Mind you, these underwear are for a 2, 3, maximum four year old (if they are thin in the waist like mine are). There is normally NO way a 6 or 7 year old could comforably wear them. Only, here was this poor child who needed to make his point by letting go of the waist band to make sure that he was serious. Down they went.

So, I, in my creative, "brilliant", pack-rat way, had just the solution. Remember those holey underwear I mentioned in the last post. Actually I looked at them. I kept them because after just a few wears and washes the elastic had gone REALLY bad. Defective to be sure. Anyhow, I pulled out that pair, the ones he had just dropped dejectedly on the floor, pulled out my sewing kit, that I rarely use, and pulled out a piece of elastic that I had kept from one of my hubbies old pairs of undies. And wouldn't you know... if cut in half, both pairs of kiddie undies would be usable once more.

There is a reason why I there are moments I am really glad I am the way I am. It saves money, it makes one exercise creativity, and, it makes life interesting, colorful, and just so full of spice... :-)

Out of curiosity... is there anything about yourself that you did not like while growing up, but now that you're are mostly "grown", you see God's wisdom in creating you the way He did? I have many, but... I would love to hear someone else be real, for a moment. :-)

Commissioned Watercolor Portrait GIVEAWAY!!!!

A Confession...

The Golden Rule by William Morris

"Have nothing in your houses which you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful."

I confess that this idea sounds just right... except that I am a "packrat" and "creative recycler". One of these days I will have a house that is in order and pleasant to look at. I will have everything in its place, and be able to be creative while still having everything under control. Until that day comes, well... I do my best, and that is it.

Even so, it is a great quote to remember for those little things that I hold onto, that I really WOULD rather dispose of, like the holey underwear that I keep in case I need the elastic for something, or the striped socks I only have one of that eventually will be a sock animal, or that scrap of paper that speaks "Card" to me but was crumpled under the weight of numerous other scraps of paper and is no longer pretty anymore... The list can go on forever.

Downsizing is NEVER easy for me, but for those moments in my life when I have HAD to do it... What relief! It is amazing how importantly we view some "things". I hope that I am growing better in caring about things that really matter. Of course, I say that while eyeing my kids playing too closely to MY cardstock, My well-taken-care-of-scissors, or MY glue that does not look disorderly with dried remnants of past craft sessions.

But when I do release some of the seemingly "imporant" things that we fill our home and life with, well, I have noticed that I have more time to be with my family, and a little less time cleaning, organizing, or some other such "fun" activity.

My time is precious, my kids are growing, and my energy needs to be divided between so many things, so... Perhaps I had better go and sign up for "packrat's anonymous" and maybe clean something out. Later. :-)

November 10, 2008-- A Day Of Remembering Loved Ones...

I am a day late, but yesterday was the 10th. It is a day that marks two events: one in my own personal life, which I will mention first, and also now reaches to my husband's side as well. Eight years ago, two months almost exactly to the day that my first son was born, my grandmother, Lydia, went to be with Jesus. (Oh, how sad I was that she did not meet him!)

I have always disliked the question "Who is your hero?" as I never really felt I had one except for people who had already lived and died, and whom I have never personally met. My list includes so many, some may seem cliché to you, but they are not to me. They are: Jesus, Jim and Elizabeth Elliot and the other missionaries whom have suffered and died for their faith in Jesus, the Apostle Paul, the disciples that personally knew and followed and learned directly from Jesus, Keith Green, Columbine victims, etc...

For years I thought on this subject, wracking my brain to come up with an answer to this question. I had a hard time. There are so many special people in my life, who have done so many special things, for me or others, but I could not just extend that "label" to just anyone.

So, when my Abuela, grandmother in Spanish, died, I thought long and hard about how much I would miss her, how life would be different without her: family functions would be void of her "specialties", and her short but sweet phone calls would come to a stop. Her crafts would not be included in Christmas gifts, and no longer could we pop in for a visit and expect to be spoiled by her cooking.

More than anything, what I miss is not the phyical things she offered, but rather, the spiritual things she offered. She was a "spiritual warfare" warrior. She spent more time on her knees praying for her family and loved ones more than ANYONE I have EVER met. I remember sleeping over her house as a child and waking up in the middle of the night to hear her still praying after hours and hours on her knees. She was a woman who knew how to pray for others, to "stand in the gap" and love them in this way. Her family benefitted from her nightly vigils, and when she passed, it was clear that things would be different.

This simple and humble, though somewhat headstrong, woman left a legacy I hope I can also leave to my own children, to my grandchildren, even to my great-grandchildren. I want them to know...
"You need to want Jesus MORE than anything else in this world..." more than food, more than sleep, more than friends, more than money, more than a job, more than...

Jesus is the MOST IMPORTANT PERSON IN THIS WHOLE WORLD.

My Abuela Lydia is my "hero". I miss her terribly, even after 8 years. I still have moments when I cry to hear her voice, to feel her play with my hair, to hear her pray while I snuggle into the old and comfy blankets on her bed... there are so many things. But I know that one day I will see her again. She has passed on her faith, and I am determined NOT to let go. When I do finally get to see her again, I know that it will be a sweet reunion. I know that she is healthy, whole, and well. That means so much, But I also know that she is with my precious little Baby Hope who went to be with Jesus on March 5, 2005, my Abuela's very own birthday. These two dear ones that I love so much are together and waiting...

That leads me to another "passing on"...

My husband's uncle, Pasquale, went to be with Jesus yesterday. After a long bout with Alzheimers and other physical things, he gave his final breath and, we believe, He saw the face of our most wonderful Saviour and Lord, Jesus. Please pray for all of his family and my mother-in-law who is his sister.

If you would like this award, just leave a nice, little comment, and I will be happy. ;-)

Please copy this award, post it on your blog and be sure to pass it on to all the lovely lady bloggers you know and love.

To all you "Lovely Ladies" out there...Have a wonderful day!

A Call To Prayer... (Not Just Because Of The Election, But For Every Day!)

By the way, this is my perspective on our responsibility with ANY president we will have...

These are lyrics from Casting Crowns (2003) album from the song "What If His People Prayed"...

What if the armies of the Lord
Picked up and dusted off their swords
Vowed to set the captives free
And not let Satan have one more

What if the church, for heaven's sake
Finally stepped up to the plate
Took a stand upon God's promise
And stormed hell's rusty gates...

What if His people prayed
And those who bare His name
Would hulmbly seek HIs face
And turn from their own way

And what would happen if we prayed
For those raised up to lead the way
Then maybe kids in school could pray
And unborn children see light of day

What if the life that we pursue
Came from a hunger for the truth
What if the family turned to Jesus
Stopped asking Oprah what to do

He said that they would hear
His promise has been made
He'll answer loud and clear
If only we pray

If my people called by My name
If they'll humble themselves and pray
If my people called by my name
If they'll humble themselves and pray

WHAT IF HIS PEOPLE PRAYED

So... I have heard it said, Prayer works, because "Prayer Is The Work!!!" What A Great Thing TO Remember!

Tropical Tree Frog Costume GIVEAWAY!!!!

All About "November's Fantastick Write-Away Contest"...

Okay, All, this is a great and most interesting contest topic... Check it out to see what you think... Hope to entice you to join in the FUN!!!

In the words of Scribbit over at scribbit.blogspot.com..."Have you ever played Scattergories? It's one of my favorite board games and this month's writing theme will be a little like the game. You can pick your own topic this month with two, count them TWO, caveats: Your theme must fall somewhere under the heading of "Thanksgiving"and it must start with the letter F.

Strange I know but this still leaves it rather wide-open. There are a lot of F words that can be linked to the holiday--starting with food and ending with food--and you're free to follow your fancy with this one. It would be helpful if you included your F word in your title but not absolutely necessary. Got it?

Our guest judge is Andrea Tange from Mommy's Martini who is full of rock-solid experience with writing and editing (have I mentioned she's a professor?) and who will be an asset to this month's quirky contest. Translation? She's really going to make things look classier around here. She will award a first place honor to the F-post of her choice as well as three Honorable Mentions she deems worthy.

Finally, our prize this month is provided by Suave..."

I Have Added Another Blog... Come see!!!...

So, I have decided to open another blog attached to this one. It is called "Days Ease Wordlets and Craftivities", and you can find it at this link... http://daysease.blogspot.com/ Basically, it will be an outlet for the creative words I sometimes feel like writing (hence Wordlets) and for the my craft activities (hence Craftivities). I hope you will come over to see what I am up to. Have a great day... and have fun being creative and crafting away!!!

P.S. I am still getting it together so don't be surprised if it is not very pretty right now... and I am still adding older stuff to the site so don't be surprised if you have already seen the stuff I am adding at this point... But, I am working on it. Have any suggestions, feel free to leave a comment--- over there. :-)

Fourth Folder, Fourth Picture Tag...

My friend at Takin' Time To Smell The Flowers tagged me. It is a cute one, and easy too. All you have to do is go into your fourth folder, fourth picture, and post it... so, here is mine. Cute, huh? This is from back in January 2005 when Miranda was a few of weeks old. Giosaia loves his little sister. Can you tell?
So, now it is my turn to tag some people... Oooh, I am itching to go crazy with the tags, but I will choose... 4 and one for an extra blessing... (since I do not believe in luck) :-)

1) Octamom
2) Decor To Adore
3) The Riddle Family
4) Moziesme
5) Mud and Coffee

This should be fun! Hope you do not mind participating... Have a great day!
